Welcome!by Erin McLaughlin |

Welcome to my new blog! This is the first blog that I’ve done where I’ve been a little, er, intimidated by my possibly negative reception from readers. Why? Because I have no idea what I’m doing! I love photography – garden photography in particular – but I have absolutely no training and very little knowledge. What I DO have is the joy of being able to work with some fantastic commercial photographers, including the likes of Edward Pond, Stacey Haines, Virginia Macdonald, Donna Griffith and Janis Nicolay. I love art directing shoots and watching artists create magic with their cameras. I’ve finally decided to start shooting my own fun garden images and I’m going to put them out there on the internet for everyone to see. I’d love any kind of creatively constructive comments (don’t worry, it’s hard to hurt my feelings!).
This first image was taken with my beloved Canon G9 which finally bit the dust this past fall. (don’t you hate it when it costs more to repair your camera than it does to buy a new one?). I loved the G9 for its amazing lens and incredible macro lens. Right now I’m shooting with a very different kind of camera which I also love: the Samsung ST1000. Very different from the Canon but equally enjoyable!
This shot was taken in South Carolina at a beautiful private residential area called Hampton Island. I was in the barn and loved the way the dark interior transitioned into the light outside. A bit moody don’t you think?
