The curved door handle on this contemporary home was the inspiration for a square wreath with a curved birch branch in the centre. Bold birch branches in a matte black container and white bark on the wreath provide a dramatic theme of contrasting colours and textures.

How to assemble the planter and the wreath
Large birch branches are held upright in the empty container while dry sand is poured in to anchor them. The round, twiggy ornaments, lightly sprayed white and nestled at the base, provide another layer of texture.
The pre-made floral foam wreath form (shown at left) is fastened into a 45-centimetre plastic frame. After soaking the foam, Bellis attached pieces of bark with hot glue and filled in the spaces between with lichen, moss, pine cones, tallow branches, barker bush and seed pods, attaching them with U-shaped pins and more hot glue.
