The best purple flowering plants

Purple is a perfect colour in the garden

‘Negrita' Tulip (Triumph Group)
Purple has long been associated with royalty; it's also a wonderful colour in the garden. Plant the bulbs of this easy-to-grow beauty in fall (up until soil freezes), 30 centimetres apart in a sunny, moist, well-drained site (good drainage is very important during winter). ‘Negrita' is delightful grouped en masse, or contrasted by pure white or pale pastel colours in the garden.
