Traditional holiday colour is found in untraditional dried blooms and branches

The traditional holiday colour combo of red and green gets a fresh twist with this easy-peasy arrangement, assembled here in
a small concrete urn. A simple bouquet of green hydrangeas (fresh or dried) is perked up with three sprigs of red St. John’s wort (Hypericum) berries, and three stems of redtwig dogwood—or repurposed Hypericum trimmings.

Anchor the hydrangeas in floral foam or a crumpled piece of chicken wire; if using dried flowers, insert the berries into water-filled floral picks or a small jar and strip the leaves from their stems.

As an alternative to the hydrangeas, substitute green spider or pompom mums.
