Digging for garden collectibles

Although lightweight reproductions of the classic urn are widely available, antique urns and jardinieres—whether English, French or Italian, stone, iron or lead—with detailed modelling and exceptional casting are incomparable. Very old and very beautiful versions can be found in near-perfect condition, as they’re not likely to suffer the abuse their lightweight counterparts may encounter. Photography by Bonnie Summerfeldt.
