Blueberry breakfast shake

Whip fresh, antioxidant-rich blueberries into a tasty morning smoothie.

This fresh and satisfying smoothie reminds us of our favourite blueberry muffin recipe (you won’t miss the sugar and fat—we promise!). Juicy blueberries combined with hearty rolled oats, creamy buttermilk and spicy cinnamon will help you power through a busy day.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp golden flaxseed
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 tbsp rolled oats
  • 1 cup low-fat buttermilk
  • 1 tsp clover honey
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Directions

1 Grind the flaxseed using a spice or coffee grinder.

2 Combine all the ingredients in a blender and purée until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more buttermilk and blend again. Serve.

Per serving: 200 calories, 4 g total fat (1 g saturated fat), 38 g carbohydrates, 6 g fibre, 5 mg cholesterol, 132 mg sodium.
