Gall on Forsythia
My forsythias are covered in gall..... a couple of years ago I tried cutting the affected areas off with a bleach solution and soaked the shears each time I cut as recommended, but no difference..... I thought I would ask you experienced gardeners if there is any hope.....thanks!

Gall
Sorry I can't help because I didn't even know what a gall IS -- I researched it on the web a bit. Seems each particular type (made by insects, fungus etc.) has its own treatment, but didn't seem to be absolute cures. Cutting out and/or off was discussed on various websites, although just removing the gall may not remove the insect, or spores that "poof" off the plant.
So thanks for the lesson, shows you how there's always something new to learn here at Canadian Gardening!
Keep us posted on your forsythia.
Good luck,
Mary Pat
