Hi rick12:
Another vine which comes to mind, and which can hang down several feet, would be the Vinca vine. You can get them in both dark green and variegated,
Zone 5b

Ven, great minds must think alike! LOL LOL I'd vote for sweet potato vine, too. It will tolerate the heat better.
