Dracunculus vulgaris
Three bulbs were placed in the garden is 2006/2007 and all three survived the Winter much to my suprise. It appears one has even divided. The vegetation completely disappeared during the summer. I notice growth is most vigorous, and it started growth immediately after the snow disappeared.

One was grown indoors last year and it flowered. It has an odour for a day or so, similiar to the odour of a rancid sea shell, but very over-powering, if very close to the flowering part of the plant.

Jude, who has not been on the forum in quite awhile, grew this plant and she reported the same thing. It blooms and then dies back almost immediately.
