Perennial Sales this weekend! My adrenalin rush for the year

Postby countrychic » May 09, 2008 11:57 am

I have two Horticultural Perennial sales to go to this weekend. One is tonight at 6pm, and the other is 8am in the morning. I usually get there an hour earlier to be first in line. They hold us eager green thumbs back with a rope until the last second, and then release us in a frenzy. We aren't allowed to browse earlier and see what's available, very frustrating. It is a mad rush of snatch and grab, with some politeness thrown in. Everyone pushing their loaded boxes along the floor, shuffeling from one table to the next.
It is all over in half an hour, with only scraps left for late comers.

I so look forward to these sales each year, but not the stress and heart pounding frenzy! lol

Exciting! I was at one of the local greenhouses last night. I found things quite expensive. I think I will head back to CT today.

Oh, have fun at the sales! You described the craziness so well - went to a few local sales in past years and it was super hectic, but worth getting there early. I'm looking forward to the long weekend to get out to get some annuals and brighten up my window boxes, etc.

Garden Club puts on HUGE plant sale each early spring, here.

Is such a frenzy, and lines at cash (one cash) are enormous.

Folks are mannerly, but it is exhausting. And real treasures are gone in first little while too.
