little green worms in daylily buds?

Postby clarissa » May 10, 2008 1:07 pm

Hi to all gardeners for the last three years, the buds of my daylilies have been getting these little worms which seem to cause the buds to swell and of course prevent them from flowering. Would anyone out there know of a cure? So far I have not been able to find a way to prevent this. It is especially disappointing because lately there have been such beautiful hybrids available in the garden stores etc. Thanks for any help.

I've never had a problem with my daylilies.... Try spraying them with Neem Oil. It's organic and I would think it should work.

little green worms

Hi to all Thanks Lyn for the suggestion of Neem oil - so it is off to the garden centre tomorrow. I have one daylily that I planted 3 years ago and have yet to see it bloom which is supposed to be a pale cream-white. I am looking forward to seeing the flower. Jean
