are there any seeds I can plant in my garden now? I am in zone 5b. thankyo curlysue

My neighbor planted her sweet peas in the ground a few weeks ago. I was there yesterday, and they are all popping up. I think they like cool temps though.

Chard, lettuces, radishes and peas all do well if planted early. Most of them will survive a light frost. If you did not plant your garlic last fall, you can plant that and shallots now, as well. Oh yes, and broad beans!

Out here we overwinter a lot of this stuff (if it doesn't drown) but peas and radishes are only for spring. Don't forget, we may be in a much higher zone but our springs are long and coooooooool. So there are some similarities.
