Can you tell me why some of my clematis leaves on yellowing on the May Clematis vine. I am in south western Ontario

Some yellowing is fine, so don't worry too much about it.
Too many yellow leaves on the other hand may be a sign that the plant is stressed.
Get some clematis fertilizer and feed it according to the instructions, and also give it plenty of water - not too much though! :roll:
A number of people recommend using Epsom Salts when you're watering plants and veggies. Only about 1-2 TBS per gallon of water. This apparently encourages the plant to take up nutrients more readily.
