So far (knock on wood) I've not had to deal with these buggers but thought the baby powder was a great idea!

Re: For those of you dealing with Lily Beetle
I was able to control them last year...only had a few. every couple of days cleaning the larvae off the leaves. But this year, even though the lilies are only up a couple of inches, I've already killed 3!
I have a friend 2 hours south of me whose lilies were absolutely decimated by the buggers.....I passed it on to her! She thanks you too!!

Is Johnson's baby powder effective? I've used malathion but have still lost most of my lilies. JO

If it is a talcum powder it should be.

The article talks about smothering the insect, would diatomaceous earth work similarly? As far as I know, we don't have the red lily beetle here, yet, but I can sympathize with all the gardeners who are battling this pest.

I don't think diatomaceous earth is fine enough to smother the insect.
