Here in Calgary (Zone 3 kind offish)

The big news is that:

Early Scout (or similar) early peony started up - yay!
All the border small flowering plants started up, like baby breaths, snow in the summer, and dianthises are just about to bloom too.
catmint is on its way out
oxitalis
later irises are about to open up
alpine aster
violas
wild/hardy begonia

A few hours northeast of Calgary:

My peonies just opened!
clustered bell flower
jacob's ladder
coral bells (well, one is so close to being open! bright orange! can't wait to see it!)
columbine
cosmos from seed! (wow, that experiment was a success!)
lilacs
the yellow bearded irises (the purple ones flower two weeks earlier than these)
dianthus
a new type of speedwell that I've never seen before (beautiful white spires)
roses! (how could I forget!)
of course, the never ending, self seeding poppies and johnny-jump-ups

Flower heads coming visible this week but not yet open:
lillies
red fox speedwell
delphiniums & larkspur

Clematis are in full bloom and believe it or not with such mild winter here in SW Ontario and a hot spring we have Hostas blooming already!

Sometimes, unusual weather is a good deal for gardeners. Here, the winter was mild, the spring was very hot, and we have had very little precipitation since last November. This appears to have crippled the Japanese beetle population. Too bad, so sad!! LOL
