Hosta leaves brown and curling at edges

Postby moonlitday » Jun 20, 2012 6:56 pm

I have two hostas (out of many) that seem to be having trouble. They came up great, and are huge and lovely. However I've noticed the leaves are starting to brown and curl, just at the edges. The two in question are at opposite ends of the same garden that is near my quiet street. Suggestions?

What has your weather been like??? you can see dried up curled edges on hostas that are too dry OR too wet.....

Quite dry. Weatherman says it's going to rain, doesn't. I've started watering them. It's strange though that my other 5 or so are doing wonderfully.

different varieties will be affected by the weather different ways.

Also...was thinking...if these are an earlier variety, they may also have been hit with a lat frost after they started coming up.

If you are concerned, you can just remove the affected leaves...it'll keep growing!

I would have a look inside the curled leaves. You might find a spider or something else making itself at home. Apart from slugs nothing much bothers hosta. I have hostas in full sun and full shade and all do pretty well.
