dying flower
I am more of a beginner gardener and I bought a beautiful tall yellow daisy like flower at a garden center, it doesn't seem to take the extreme heat well but comes back when watered till now. It just keeps dying a little more each day. Any help would be appreciated. I believe it was an annuaul ad I must have lost the tag with the name on it.
Thanks

Re: dying flower
Is it in the ground or still in a pot? How often are you watering it? If you're letting it get too dry in between waterings, that will do it. I water my flower pots every day and they are in part shade (on and off) through some of each day. If still in a pot, can you move it to where it gets some shade during the hottest part of the day? Also, fertilizer. Some of those daisy like annuals will not keep flowering well unless they are fertilized and get enough water.

Does your flower look like the one below? If so, it's a Rudbeckia and when newly planted (or in a pot) needs to be watered a lot, especially if you experienced the heat wave we had in the east.
I got one about a month ago, and if I didn't water it heavily enough every day, it would remind me by wilting badly, and if it wilts enough too many times it can be damaged or die. Now the roots have gone deep enough so I can ease off on the watering, but still keep an eye on it during the afternoon.
