Tree/leaf identification

Hello All,

A tree began growing in my backyard and i'm hoping you can help me identify it.
I have never seen these leaves before...Picture attached. Thank you!

I'm thinking it may be some type of hibiscus? Although it doesn't seem to be flowering...

Sorry, can't help to identify it. It doesn't look like an hibiscus leaf to me though.

Can't say I've seen leaves growing in that shape anywhere around me.

Seems to be a leaf that stands out though.. A forum member, Ian, seems pretty up there with identifying different things, maybe we'll get lucky and he has a clue.

What zone are you in, or area of Canada? If you don't mind my asking.

I've posted on a number of gardening forums and have had no luck in identification.

The leaves are similar to some species of oak trees. Search on" Oak leaves" and then click the "Images for oak leaves" to see if any match your sapling.

After looking over oak leaves, have to admit there are 3 types that come close, but not an exact match at all to those leaves. (Red, black, and some swamp one)

Those leaves are asymmetrical, and I saw only one oak with asymmetrical leaves, but not pointed.

I can't match it to an oak at all. Not that I spent more than 15 minutes looking either.

Are all the leaves the same?

Are you able to post more leaf shots and maybe a shot where new leafs are coming out of a branch/twig as well. Also one shot of the tree bark wouldn't hurt.

Here are a few more shots of the tree. The leaves are not all the same.
There are no flowers or fruit, at least as of yet. This has only been growing for several months.

I also posted on a few other forums - with White Mulberry having come up several times as a strong possibility.

heh I see that. Must be a maturity/age thing? Or I read some hybrids do this.

I can not match this to an oak, although it comes close, even for the leaves in the new picture that show symmetry.

Going by leaf, that is not a white mulberry. If you look at wiki and scroll down a bit you will see it's not the same:

EDIT:
I don't know the proper name of the protrusions that come out of a leaf, but the White Mulberry has 6. You have 8 (on those that are symmetrical)

EDIT 2:
Also the bark on the new pic doesn't look like any oak that I just looked-over. But again, this could be due to age. No clue.
