Green Maple with black spots on the leaves?
Hello, I used to have 2 grren maples on my property. The city owned one in the front yard was taken down this spring because it had "Wilt". Today I noticed the younger one in the back yard is getting black spots on the leaves and whit spots on the branches.
But, it doesn't look the same as the one that was killing the front yard tree.
See pictures below.
If it helps our soil is very clay like in nature and we live in Ottawa....
Does anybody know what this is? or what can be done to help this tree?
Thanks....

The leaf spot is called "Tar spot".....just a foliage fungus and won't hurt your tree

The other white growth on the limb is a different mold/fungus...you could treat it with sulfur spray or copper sulfate fungicide...
