Seed Collecting

Hi everyone. I planted a Datura this summer. The flowers have been lovely. Now I'd like to collect the seed pods for next year. The trouble is they are bristled with sharp thorns.
Has anyone a hint about how to do it?

Hi Mebbie

The only way I know how to collect these pods are with the aid of a thick pair of gloves.
Once collected, I store mine in a paper bag (pods n' all) that is kept in a cool place over the winter months.

I start my daturas early (March), so I am able to transplant mature blooming plants at the beginning of the season.
