Which nutrient do I need here

Postby Blackcatbones » May 17, 2013 9:52 pm

Its pretty basic. I need to figure out what to give my young seedlings that are currently hardening off to promote thick strong rapid growth early in the season. I'm thinking nitrogen. Would this be correct ?

It depends what type of seedlings you have hardening off....I wouldn't give them any fertilizer until they become established in the garden....then I would recommend a general (balance) fertilizer.....not just nitrogen, which would produce too much leafy growth.....

Thanks that makes sense. Mostly various tomatoes and peppers they are all on their second set of true leaves. Last frost date is middle of next month here.
