rhododendron question

Postby Linda B » Jun 03, 2013 7:14 am

My rhodo that I've had for about 6 years is now really leggy... the branches are so tall and thin that the entire plant droops from the weight of blooms or the rain. Can rhodos be pruned ? How much can be cut ? What should I expect after pruning, i.e. no blooms next year or new leaves will form just below the cut and when ??????

Thanks in advance for any help.

Linda,

Here is a good website that will show you and answer your Rhodo questions.
http://www.finegardening.com/how-to/articles/three-ways-prune-rhododendrons.aspx

Also, you can go to You Tube and search for rejuvenating Rhodos.

Hope this helps
