Care of Wood Poppy

Postby soccermomof3 » Jun 20, 2013 12:41 pm

I just bought two beautiful wood poppies for my shade garden. Does anyone know if I should cut them back in the fall, or do I just leave them be? Are there any other things I should know about caring for this plant?

I know you need to keep them moist, and shaded.I tried some in Sun and they fried. They also like to reseed. You don't say what zone your in,but these were hardy in my zone 5 garden years ago.The top growth would just die back in Fall, and they were very early bloomers in Spring.

An interesting flower that I've not known before. Thanx! :)

I'll have to find some myself for my shady areas. They're native to ON so I don't suppose they need too much human care. I love growing wildflowers! :D lol

Thanks Molly. I am in zone 5-6, so I should be good that way. Countryboy, hope you can find some--the flowers are so bright and sunny!
