Honeysuckle Lonicera Major Wheeler

Postby kneesinthedirt » Feb 18, 2014 9:58 pm

I have been doing a lot of research on climbing vines. My intent is to get full privacy coverage for a chain link fence separating me and a neighbour. So many vines are either invasive or have very thick & heavy woody stems requiring strong support. I've read that the Lonicera Sempervirens Major Wheeler is a great plant and I wonder if any Canadian gardeners can vouch for this claim. My particular concern is whether its woody stems grow to be very thick and heavy with the ability to distort a medium gauge link fence. Or, are its woody stems similar to say, a clematis. Does anyone have experience growing this honeysuckle?
