Cucumbers Cross Country
http://www.durgan.org/ShortURL/?LQAER 21 July 2008 Cucumbers Cross Country. First picking.
Now only Cross Country is grown. This type satifies my requirements, and Cross Country is a prolific producer. There are total of seven plants in three hills about 25 inches apart.

I didn't get pictures of the second picking, but the quantity was about the same.

isn't it odd how one veggie will grow like gangbusters for one person and not another
I cant grow carrots and I do not eat them unless right fresh from the garden so need to buy them from local farmers or I would never eat carrots
BTW have you tried growing them from plants already started from the nurseries??

Durgan your cucumber look great. I take it these are pickling cucumbers. Where to you get Crosscountry from? I looked in my catalogs that I have and couldn't find that variety. I would like to try it next year. I tried pickling cucumbers last year and they never produced enough at one time to pickle them.

I grew National Pickling and Cross Country last year (2007). Cross Country was definitely superior in quality and slightly better in production, but National Pickling is still a good choice.

Hi Bf:
We grew Straight8 this year, and have had way too many cukes! I have been trying to pawn them off on the neighbors.
Almost as bad as zucchini!!
The weather has been great for cukes.
