Bad storm runied them
We have had heavy heavy rain since fri and last nite we were hit by a really bad storm of thunder, lightening heavy rain and strong winds
My 7 ft tom plants were knocked down
They were in cages but now a mess
Will they straigten back up when the sun comes out or are they done?
Even the cages are pushed over by the wind and now the plants are laying on the ground
WE are expecting more rain and heavy wind agian tonite

As long as the stems aren't broken you should be able to set them upright again.

Thanks Lyn
A feeling of defeat at the moment. A few branches broken
They are so heavy and awkward to lift with these huge plants inside cages
Another storm coming to nite so I might as well leave them til tomorrow
Dont think I can lift them myself. Too heavy. I tried

Think first aid.
If a branch is bent and has a crink in it, try straightening it out, and put a bandaid on it, depending on the extent of the damage and thickness of the branch, the bandaid alone is sometimes enough to keep it straight.

Th branches are bent and some of them are 2 inchs or more thick and so heavy
The size of the toms on them are like saucers
The plants are so heavy and are to move

Re: Bad storm runied them
Gosh I tried again yesterday to straighten them up but with cages around them and branches so heavy and thick and so many big tome.
what a mess
The bottom thongs are all bent curled right in half and I couldn't lift the plants enough to get the thongs straightened out to get them back in the ground
I had to tied the cages together and tie them to poles to hold the toms off the ground and then not a great job
Geees I was pooped with that job

Tomatoes touching the ground could easily rot with all your moisture. As well, slugs could attack. Might wish to make some chow with the ones on the ground.
