They are still growing the tops I mean.

With all the rain we have been getting and more to come, the tops are very lush green

Shouldn't they be starting to die down by now?

I did dig up a plant 2 weeks ago and they are just the size of plums yet.

I am disappointted they didn't grow much in 2 months.

I feel they should have

When the tops die down, is this the signal they are finished developing under ground?

I would say so BF.
The tops of mine died back completely about 2 weeks ago. I dug up a small area but the potatoes were still v. small. I am going to leave the rest in the ground for a while longer and see what happens. I'm in no rush to dig them up - I'm off to England for a week in the next few days so will wait until I get back before I dig mine up.

Hi BF:
If the tops are still really green, they will continue to develop. You planted late, and depending upon which variety you planted, they might not be mature yet.
Our Norland, and Pink Fir Apple are very green yet. The Superior(an early variety) are all died down, and we have eaten most of them.
We rarely dig potatoes before the first of October, except to eat.
They keep better in the ground than in a warm storage area this time of year.

I don't remember what variety. There are blue ones.

BBQ have a wonderful trip.

Seems to me it was Fall my dad dug them. But just going my memory a aa kid, I could be wrong

I wonder what kind my best friend planted. I will ask her. They are blue and they have been eating theirs a month after planting they grew so big.

They have the same soil as I do. They just live 2kms away and I get my soil from him

Yes the tops are very lush and green and still growing.

I there any need to hill them again?
