Vegetables can be weird

Picked a carrot and a tomato today . . .
I thought I was picking one carrot .. I was in for a surprise,
I then picked a yellow tomato that was ripe, this is my first ever sqare tomato...
What cause these kind of deformalities ? ?

it is square, Holy smokes never saw that before
