Will these strawberries give fruit the first year?

I'm confused about strawberries. One person tells me this and another person that. Some people say that strawberries will all give off fruit the first year but not a lot of fruit. Any truth to this? I'm told that some varieties fruit the first year and others will not fruit at all.

I have a package of Johnson's Patio Vegetables "Sweet Fresca" strawberry seeds here and am about to plant them into soil. Will these give me fruit this summer?

I have not grown strawberries from seed , so really can only guess that it may be possible to get a small late crop of strawberries from plants started early and set out when weather permits. I'm sure it would be the second year before you got a full crop from seed started plants.

I haven't ever grown strawberries from seed either, so am only guessing as well, but am agreeing with Dave's opinion.

I doubt you'lll get flowers if you're planting seed this year. And if any do come up, I would pinch them off. By allowing them to flower you'll be hurting productivity in future years.
