Any veggies that we can plant outside now?
I was just wondering if there are any veggies I can plant outdoors from seed right now, if so which ones? or is the weather to cold still? I live in Ontario near North Bay.

Prob a tad still cold up there, unless you have some green onion seeds.
If so, perhaps put a sheet over them at night to protect any chance of frost. Aslo during the day, a sheet of plastic to act like a greenhouse.

Thank you, I'll give that a try. I woke up today with snow on the ground but it all melted by the afternoon. Would it be possible to plant spinach or lettuce yet or still to cold for them also?

Spinach, lettuce and even peas may be good to germinate now. Any of yr cool weather crops.
In N. ON u will certainly have to be prepared to protect them at nite. It's fun and easy to build a fairly decent cold frame. That way u can start them in their spot in the garden and place the cold frame over them nitely. *In a usual T Bay Spring, maybe for days. lol*
Or, as suggested, a light *2 mil* sheet of plastic. Quickly available at any hardware store as 'plastic dropsheets'.

John
I too am just outside of North Bay, and have planted my peas, onions, leeks, rapini, turnip, and kohlrabi this morning. I figure if the weather doesn't co-operate, there is still enough time to replant, but if it does co-operate, then I am ahead of the game.
Good luck

Broad beans ( Fava beans) can also be added to the early planting list.

If you are antsy to get started, how about doing some wintersowing? Check it out.
You should be able to plant spinach right now...might even be preferable since you can enjoy the crop before the heat of summer causes it to bolt.

Well so far I planted spinach, lettuce, onions and peas. Hopefully all goes well and I too am ahead of the game
so far I haven't seen any of my neighbors out there planting anything. Then again they usually just buy there plants at the store when available and plant them in there garden. Hopefully this year is a good year.

I'm interested to see if there are any updates on you guys who started early with the above seeds? I'm really tempted to do so as well but the weather is still dipping below the freezing mark at night here in southern Ontario.

Although I have not put any in the ground as of yet, I did start a mini greenhouse from a kit I grabbed at Giant Tiger last week. Planted cucumbers, beets, cluster tomatoes, and something else, that I cannot think of right now.
Also in a large pot, I planted leaf lettuce which has seran wrap over the top to help with the humidity leverl during the day.
