Where can I find straw for mulch in Ottawa?

I'm looking for some straw to mulch my veggie garden this year and am not sure where to find it in the Ottawa area.

Are there any farm supply stores in your area? You may be able to find some there. In the fall you can usually find it at pet supply stores butr that could be difficult at this time of year.

I'm surrounded here by dairy farms. So is Ottawa . . . within a distance. ALL of them have bales of straw. If u talk nicely to the farmer.

Maybe meet them at a local farmer's market.

Yesterday, in another topic, "styric" mentioned she gets some stuff via those "freecycle" sites.

I did a quick search to see what's floating around and spotted bales of straw about 30-40 minutes outside downtown Ottawa for 3$/bale.

Think I saw this on craigslist.org or kijiji.ca. I didn't keep the link, but recalled someone here was looking for it.

When u just buy a few bales at a time, $3 is a decent price.
