Blossom end rot is because your tomato plant does not have enough calcium. When transplanting your tomato plants, place a heaping tablespoon of crushed egg shells in the bottom of the planting hole. Since I've done this, I've never been bothered with blossom end rot again. Some give their plants calcium pills, others feed milk to their plants every two weeks. I'm lazy, crushed egg shells are the easiest.
