I too have used water spikes this year for the first time. I love them! It has been very dry this year...no rain for almost two months. Now I know that Lee Valley carries the spikes, I will be getting more, made a big difference!

interesting ideas. thanks for sharing. that pic of the raised bed in the last post is pretty impressive. where can i get wood like that? never seen it in stores.

Those look like old partially milled logs either they cut down trees themselves on their land or they got it off someone elses who saw it as scrap wood.
You should still be able to find some rough partially milled logs at a local kentor something maybe kijiji off someones scap wood piles.
