Avatars and signatures

I have yet to figure out how to get my avatar and signatures to show up. I have tried attaching through Photobucket and from my home computer. My photo is the right size and is a JPG so I can;t identify the problem. I have tried through "Edit my Profile" and through my UCP (which BTW is buried in a stupid spot! It should be available through "Edit my Profile") When I go to my UCP it seems to indicate that those things should show up but they aren;t there when I get onto the board.

Also, the avatars that people are managing to post are really small. Can that be remedied?

I can attach an avatar in my UCP and it shows up there but it doesn't not show up on the boards.

If I try to attach an image in "Edit My Profile" I get this error message

Some errors have been encountered:
Only JPEG and GIF pictures are allowed for your avatar.

My photo is a JPG, it is 120x88pixels and is 7KB in size.
