Users Groups question

I don't understand how the 'User's Groups' works or what their function is. Any help?

If you click on "Registered users" you'll find all the members and you can use theat list to find somebody and send them a PM or e-mail.

I put mine in my signature for now, you could put it in your Location. Hopefully mine will show up there once the avatar and profile issues are fixed.
