Taking a break
I'm getting to the point where I'm going to give these forums a rest until they are more easily read (larger black type) and one doesn't have to sign in every blessed time. There seems to be so much wasted space.

Re: Taking a break
I feel your pain, Joan. The pages seem a bit faster but there is still the "red X" problem, no way to pm, etc. I wanted to send Dmitry a message and can't figure out how to do it. Also, the section where a member can change things is very confusing. I cannot figure out how to get my location to display with my Avatar and only have so much time to mess with it. I asked one of the mods how she did it but didn't get a reply. Maybe a break away from the site is in order.

Re: Taking a break
Yes Trish, it is faster. I found that section confusing too and was back and forth, back and forth.
Perhaps, in an effort to simplify things by breaking them up into various sections, the powers that be have made it more confusing. All personal info and preferances would be so much easier to handle on one page.
I feel for the moderators. I can ignore the forums but they are committed.
Hey! we might all be committed. Drat, where's the smileys?

Wearing thin?? Ha, ha, ha....it's so think I'm practically naked! Things are a bit better but it is still many more keystrokes to get things done than in the past. If it weren't for Smitty I would still be in the dark about pm's. Thanks for the tips, Smitty.

Re: Taking a break
If the bugs don't get fixed soon, I am off. This present set-up sucks. And just when I was beginning to feel comfortable with the people.
There are several forums softwares that are almost free of charge, that have all the features needed for a working forum. There is absolutely no valid reason for making it complicated.

Re: Taking a break
None of us are happy with the way this launch was handled and the problems encountered and I'm sure the admin and IT team did not anticipate the problems before hand however please remember that at least YOU FOLKS CAN GET ON AND CONVERSE! Some folks haven't even been able to do that! So please, stop with the same complaints over and over and consider what it would be like to be on the outside looking in and WANTING to participate but you can't!

And therein lies the problem Lyn. I don't know how a new forum set-up is chosen. Can the IT team choose from various formats? However it's done much testing and adjusting would be necessary before it is put into service.
It would appear that in this case the members of these forums are the guinea pigs.
BTW, What is this forum for if not to air our views.
