Recipes section?
Hi - I believe this has been requested before, but am wondering if there is enough interest to start a Recipes section? It could include all kinds of recipes for our fruit & vegetable harvests, canning, jams, pickling, etc. but also recipe requests, swaps and cooking tips. I think it's safe to say that often people who are interestd in gardening are also interested in food & cooking!

For jams in general, how it sets depends on the recipe and on the ingredients. I usually wait 3-4 weeks before declaring a batch "failed" because it is too soupy. Sometimes, it sets up in that time frame. Yes, you can take it out of the jars and cook it longer to make it thicken. It probably does NOT need more sugar or pectin, just longer cooking. Just be sure after you clean and refill your jars to run it through the canner again using NEW lids.
How do I know, you wonder? I've had a little practice - apple butter, pear-apple butter, wild plum jelly and many domestic jams. My nickname is "Chef Redoux." LOL

I haven't figured out the 'quote' button yet Trish!
I just love your self deprecatory 'Chef Redoux'. Unique and funny!
I've also had a few redoux myself!

Hi, BBQ. There is a QUOTE button?? Ought Oh!! I see it now. I have just assumed I couldn't quote at this time. LOL LOL Yes, "Chef Redoux" lives at my house but I understand he gets around the continent on a regular basis. LOL
I would like a recipe section, too. On the forum before the upgrade of November 2006 there was frequent recipe swapping and some of them were quite tasty.
