Yeah, it's still yellow.
But last time someone, I can't remember now who, was uploading a new avatar and everyone else could see it and all I got to see was a brown box. But eventually I did get to see the avatar, I think it was the next day.

I came back today to check, and sure enough Smitty, now the avatar has pink lilies. Can someone explain why the change takes so long for me to view?

Yes, Lyn, I do shut off my computer overnight. But during the day I just close Firefox after each session of viewing.

My guess is that your cache doesn't clear until you shut down and then start up again the next morning. That's why you don't see the changes until the next day.
