[quote="williamtully"]SysOps? Wow, now we're going back in time (had a sudden flashback of 'Canada Remote Systems' forums)! [quote]
Okay, I'm a wee bit too young to recall ARPANET, but DALNET, Phone Phreaking, gridpoints, Pre-telnet BBS systems, being an IRCop, lotsa lotsa UUSENET, PGP Keys (The Magic Words are Squeamish Ossifrage), 88 characher screens on an old Herculese Monitor, LARTing, ... BoFHism. Using .vi as you Word processor...
...Hamsters ;Þ (and ASCII-Generated emoticons)
Ahhhhh, the Memories!!!
Kudos, Will for editing Joy's post, you are a glentleman and a collar.

Simple, It's an 1990's version (now obsolete) version of l33t.
Seriously, no lie...I just did that post by wandering down memory lane. I owe that time my current career and learning how to run a BBS taught me enough to be employed (ok a bit more)education) did more for y live than a three yr BA and a 5 yr Barch.
I will certainly explain any l33t code-words, if you wish.... and if you teach me Lilies

Aaahhh phreaking... Thank you Captain Crunch!
BBS? Mine frequently changed between RemoteAccess and Telegard for platforms.. Mostly ran Telegard for doors like Trade Wars and inter-bbs Barren Realms Elite.. The HOURS spent coding templates in ANSI and rug'n files at 2400...

Oh jeez, yeah... I remember.
I also remember getting 32MB RAM as a Xmas gift...LOL
for the record. do you laugh your guts out whenever you s read anything by US Robotics... I do!
And the hours and hours and HOURS to recode anything.....2 days to repair a server in Ireland via a 14400 modem.
I probably have a better system in my junkbox
If you remember the "non damaging "my little pony of the apoicalyse" app. around 1995 ( it only changed your window 3.x desktop pink, you could re change it.) that was me.... not the code, but the idea
If I made a Cthulu joke is that stiil "in"?... LOL an old geek is rare, endangered and smart enough to stay out of view.
Oops!
