Dan, Abe is one of my faves, but he fared not well this past summer...unfortunately he has gotten unwanted pruning courtesy of my eldest son......I'm hoping he does better this coming year.

I planted a friends garden in Timmins with a few of the Austin roses a few years back and they are doing great. He is in a zone 2,(I think) and does not protect the plants during winter. The only concession made for the roses is they were planted about 10" deeper than they are in warmer climates. He was sceptical about their survival, but he has now planted other plants that are recommended for higher zones

LOVE the Acidanthera...HERE it becomes invasive. I have never looked for seeds!

Lindamct, I too love the big purple Alium, it isn't the giant one tho, they didn't come up. Eeyore, I leave mine in, and enjoy the brown balls as accents here and there in the garden. I buy bulbs, do not do from seeds...and I think birds eat my seeds...goodness knows they eat everything.

What gorgeous flowers are being shown here...it is such a FEAST for the soul.

It's a Japanese variety. Last summer was quite cool and my morning glories never developed properly. Which was too bad because I had some nice varieties planted. I only have 4 seeds left so I better have a better harvest next year.

I have to agree...I had 2 new varieties planted and I got about 5 flowers total...and only one was my Chocolate MG!!!

I did however, get a fair chunk from my normal blue/purples.
