Hi BBQ: Welcome back.
These are indeed a nice surprise. I do think ours are always very late. The snow hasn't left any of them just yet.
Friends in Halifax have them in the "process".

They are lovely. A beautiful welcome home and welcome to spring.
I have seen hellebores while on vacation, but never otherwise. Here are the vacation hellebores, in Regent's Park, London. I had never seen any in person before these, and was awestruck.
This year there are a couple defying the zone in my own yard -- only a month or so until we know if they were defiant enough...
