A Robin Story

Postby countrychic » May 11, 2009 11:35 am

This would be the third year that a Robin has made a nest in this spot. Up above the overhang of the patio, sheltered from the rain. We have to put a piece of cardboard weighted down with a brick when the weather warms up, as it can be boiling hot under that roof on a sunny day!

The babies have hatched, we can tell by all the activity. Daddy and mommy taking turns to feed and sit. Daddy says hello to his new born chicks. Daddy brings some food and has a funky hairdo! Mommy keeps some leftovers for snacking on later.

Who's a smart birdie now? huh? In the hail storm! Safe and dry!

One of the babies getting hot and hanging out. Does baby have Daddy's hairdo? lol
They are one week old. We think there are 2 babies. Haven't looked inside the nest this year, usually we have had 4 at a time.

What a great photo story.

Pantene makes a frizzbuster that can fix that up in a second!

Hmmm, Bad hair, big mouth...now I know why I like robins :)

They grow so quickly! The boids are standing up in the nest, they better not fall out! They have new feathers, still too young to fly the coop and get raised under the shrubbery. I'll post pics as soon as I catch them at their antics!
