here it is,,,not a great pic, as I post this I think you corrected me before and said it was a rhododendron...but it has survuved Manitoba winters and bloomed every spring

it was a rhododendron

Hi Smitty:
It is Rhododendron mucronulatum.....a semi-deciduous type that is very early, and behaves more like an azalea than a "typical" rhodie.
Ours were in bloom by May1st this year.

yep I remember now and this time I'm copying it over to the picture :) . the last of the flowers are just falling off now. It bloomed for a good 2 weeks.
