Looking good Connie! It's looking great in my yard too and I'm happy to say that all the shrubs I was questioning are showing signs of green. The Smoke bush has survived another winter as well! This is one I watch with bated breath every spring.

Looking good!
A question, does your sandcherry suffer from winterkill above the snow line? I always lose the tips of mine and it is starting to drive me crazy!

I don't believe the snow is an issue for the Sand Cherry shrub. I bought two last Spring, so this was their first winter, however, the day I planted these two I realized I had another less than six feet away. It was (looked) dead when we moved here. After the first winter, I cut off all the branches down to the ground, but it kept trying to come up with new shoots. In the end, I let it grow and now it's the same size and height as the two new Sand Cherry's. Looks identical! And every bit of every branch is looking great this Spring, so... the answer to your question must be no.
