Most of mine aren't that far along either Diane. In fact I think for Hellebores these are late but it's the first time these have bloomed so I can't be sure. Things are usually later here than in other parts of the country.

Lyn, I'm trying to grow helleborous here too, but not having much luck. What do you do for yours? Add anything in the way of compost or fertilizers? Any tips you can give me?

Prince George is zone 4b so you should be able to grow them. Choose one of the hardiest varieties (I have no idea what mine are since they just came with a tag that said "Helleborus"), I prepared the hole well, and planted them in an area that gets sun for only about 3 or 4 hours a day. It's also very well protected but gets a lot of snow cover. They are also mulched. 2 out of 3 came back this year and the other is miles behind this one. They don't get treated any better than anything else in my garden, which means, they get fertilized when I remember to and ( maybe twice a season....) and watered about once a month if it is dry. I really am a lazy gardener!
