I'm curious to know if your perennial hibiscus (from seed) bloomed this year? Also did they bloom true to the original colours? I bought a plant last year and this Spring I thought it would come back from the same stalk but it didn't. Then one day I saw this plant growing and thinking it was a 'weed', I cursed and yanked it out!! Then immediately had the "Sh%$" feeling and realized what it must be. I dug a hole and shoved it back in and apologized profusely. Lucky me - it bloomed and bloomed| But I am curious about starting one from seed.

They were to small to bloom this year but if they come through the winter I'm sure some will bloom next year.

Wow Linda - next year I must try growing a hibiscus from seed. Did you start or grow it indoors at first or did you just plant the seed into the ground? I love them. My sister lives in zone 8a and she has a hibiscus that is about 6' tall and gets lots of buds on it but they never open up! Apparently Hibiscus like hot dry summers - where she lives it was a hot & dry summer (usually get more rain) they are finally now starting to open up!
