Fungi identification

Postby countrychic » Oct 22, 2012 5:47 pm

Went on a hike along Bruce trail today and saw some weird fungi.
Anyone know the names of these?

The 1st is a coral fungi of some sort. This site may be useful for identifying it further:

Great photos! I've seen fungi similar to the firstr one and always wondered what it was. Coral fungi seems very appropriate. Some of them are really cool!

They are beautiful, in the silent, meditative, cathedral of the forest.
May I interject another forest floor visual-

Mosses and Licken
Mosses fascinate me now
Fernlike, spreading spagnum.
Another, small rounds
colour of limes
And then a brittle,grey
that I've learned is a licken.

Brittle, crusty, fragile, grey,
Like me.

Just a note for botanical correctness... it's "lichen".

Hi growitall. Thank you for the correction. I did look at that word thinking something was wrong with it.

Love the pictures! Some I have seen but others are so neat to see. Nice to have the identification too and the sites for reference. Great work!!
Gardening requires a lot of water - most of it in the form of perspiration.
