thanks everyone, venice it is very small, 35 x 30 but full, there wont be any grass left next year and since i have 6 mature trees bunched together on the south side i have lots of cool shade to appreciate the pond and enough sun to have a dozen rose bushes.....it is easier to maintain a small garden.....

Your pond is beautiful. Until you are able to put plants in permanence in it, you may want to add fern leaves floating on surface with floating roses. It creates a temporary effect!
