Border Renovation
Just a list for personal posterity (and so I can remember what I've planted or moved thus far). Beginning at the sidewalk..
Echinacea hybrid (unknown color)
Garlic (mauve/pink or white, if they flower)
Rhubarb (white though I'll probably cut the flowers) - Moved
Chives (mauve) - M
Saponaria ocymoides (pink)
Lily (likely 'Enchantment') (red/orange) - In Situ
Saponaria officinalis (white) - M
Columbine seedling - M
Daylily 'Fire and Fog' (red)
Columbine hybrid (unknown color) - M, Division
Lily (unknown bulblets, moved from in front of bay window) - M
Columbine (unknown color) - M, D
-Still space left in front of Saponaria officinalis, Columbine. Up to edge of bay window.
-Found NOID Daylily rootstock, likely an apricot shade...

Aww, c'mon guys...
Alright I'll try to get some pictures for you two, it's really quite a mess. But I suppose I should document things somewhat, you're right
On the upside it's starting to look really nice... more formal than I had originally planned but classy nonetheless.

Re: Border Renovation
Definitely photos! I just read a blog where they took photographs right after planting (when they still remembered what everything was!
) and then labeled the photos for future reference.
So you wouldn't just be satisfying all us curious onlookers, but a necessary purpose as well.

Re: Border Renovation
Alright, I got some pictures today but I have yet to sort through them so I'll post them tomorrow. Today I continued the brickwork and cultivation / degrassification of the border. Relocated my prized Delphinium with a massive rootball.. this plant could probably use division but it's too late, I want to see flowers this year and moving it probably disturbed it more than enough. I'll consider that in early September, but in the meantime I found a young Delphinium that must be from seed a few feet from the main clump and now need to find space for that one. It would seem that I have a lot of plants that will grow over 2' tall and relatively few (thus far) that are much under that... it would seem I will be buying some annuals this year, which is fine because I want some white Osteospermum and was unable to buy seed for them in time.
Pics tomorrow morning!

I have the perfect spot for that delphinium seedling if you're having trouble

Hmm, if you really want him I can pot him for you... And wow, tomorrow morning was like yesterday! I have some more digging to do today and I'll post the pics I took the other day when I come back in. Bought some Osteospermum (pink and white bicolor, still waiting for the plain whites) and planted 9 Lily bulbs today as well as tearing out some more turf. I wish there was an easier way to do this than pulling the turf and cultivating the soil by hand, but this seems to be the most effective way so far.
