Next Summer Project # ...
I came accross this idea in one of the books I was reading, and I am enchanted. I have a 4 y.o. daughter, and I think she would be completely thrilled to grow the Sunflower Playhouse with me next year. I found a description on the web, and I actually ordered a few types of sunflowers

Has anyone tried to do this?

I've never done it myself, but did see something very similar when we had sold our house and were looking for another one in town!
In the garden of one of the houses we looked at was a lovely pergola and the whole thing was covered in ivy and sunflowers. It was about 8' x 8'! It was a lovely shady spot, and they'd got a small table and chairs underneath it.

Elena....will you be my mom? Mine is allergic to plants. What a great project. Have fun and take pics to share later.

Thank you for the encouragement, ladies!
I like the idea of something twining with the sunflowers. I think I will be using pole beans, since they are so relaible! So far, I have not proffed morning glory and sweet peas in my yard (morning glory started too late for the horriffic year we had this year, and peas grew profusely but didn't bloom (suspect too late as well).
Anyway, the worst that happens is that I have another flowerbed! Sheesh, I can certainly live with this!
